Dr. Hess is a highly regarded and experienced neuropsychologist who has advised families and worked with students and others who require all levels of personal guidance through intensive and time-sensitive work. He is a consultant working with students from some of Manhattan’s top schools and universities, to help them obtain the resources they need. His areas of expertise include neuropsychological assessment; test accommodations; learning disorders and mood; medical issues and cognition; reading comprehension; executive functions; interventions with reluctant writers; mathematics disorder; cognition and behavior; and assessment of reading.
Dr. Hess obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors at the University of Chicago. He holds a doctoral degree from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and performed his clinical training at The University of Chicago Medical Center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and SUNY-Stony Brook’s University Counseling Center and Child and Adolescent Program. Dr. Hess is a member of the International Neuropsychological Society, the New York State Association of Neuropsychology (where he serves on the Pediatric Interest Professional Affairs Committee), and the National Academy of Neuropsychology. He is a NYS Licensed Psychologist.
